News & Events

The first half of 2024 has been very busy for our team at Bailiwick Legal and it feels like half the year has past with just a blink of the eye! As the farming community heads into seeding time, we are hoping for an abundance of rain in the coming months and wish all our farming friends the best for the season ahead.

We continue our Regional Legal Hotdesks and are keen to meet the locals in country towns, especially at our new locations at Esperance, Kojonup and Katanning. We were glad to be part of Wagin Woolorama again earlier this year, as well as the annual TCWA Conference, and were pleased to meet new people and see some familiar faces. As always we are here for you and looking forward to helping our agribusiness, tourism and caravan industry colleagues with your legal needs.

Thank you
Phil Brunner

Bailiwick Legal was pleased to be a part of the 2024 Agribusiness Student & Industry Networking Event held on 16 May. The Event organised by the Curtin Agricultural Association (CAA)  provided a networking opportunity for students from all of Perth's leading universities to meet and connect with WA agribusiness professionals. It was an opportunity for students to engage in open discussions with different agribusinesses and for future graduates to form business relationships prior to entering the workforce. Matilda attended on behalf of Bailiwick Legal and enjoyed meeting students and giving insight as a legal representative in agribusiness .

TCWA Conference 2024

Bailiwick Legal attended the annual WA Tourism Conference on 10 and 11 June 2024, this year being held at the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre. Danielle, Anthony and Ciara enjoyed networking with other sponsors and operators and listening to the many informative talks over the two days. Visit Mandurah and the City of Mandurah did a fantastic job hosting. Congratulations to our clients who were recipients of a 7News Top Tourism Town Award or 2024 Perth Airport WA Tourism Award for Individual Excellence. We’re looking forward to next year’s conference!

Bailiwick Legal at Wagin Woolorama

Bailiwick Legal attended Wagin Woolorama on 8 and 9 March, sharing a tent with WA Farmers. With Phil, Jess, Matilda and Ciara in attendance, we saw many familiar faces over the two days and attended the exciting events on offer.

Bailiwick Legal and WA Farmers held a joint sundowner, which was well-attended by stallholders and Woolorama attendees. The sundowner provided a great chance for the team to network with local growers, to learn more about pressing issues in the area and what the needs of the local community are.

As members of Women in Farming Enterprises, Jess, Matilda and Ciara attended the catch up at the Wine Baa. It was a great opportunity to put some faces to names, get to know the group, and understand more about the farming enterprises that are being run in the Great Southern. In particular, there was a great local turnout of Wagin members.

The team attended Rick Wilson’s presentation on live animal export, which drew a large crowd, as the issue remains front of mind. With many farmers and business owners feeling the squeeze of the downturn in the sheep industry, the presentation provided an update on the situation. Rick Wilson asserted that information collected from WA hearings would be presented in Canberra to counter claims that WA farmers accepted or supported the proposed ban on live export. A number of other prominent figures on the live export issue attended, including Senator Slade Brockman, Nola Marino MP and Steve Martin MLC. In between networking at the tent, Matilda and Ciara were lucky enough to attend shearing and woolhandling competitions, dog high-jumping and the merino wool fashion show.

Once again, Wagin Woolorama was an excellent event, and we thank Wagin Agricultural Society for their efforts in organising every year. We look forward to catching up with clients and colleagues again in Wagin next year, and we will continue to run our Regional Hotdesks in the Great Southern in the meantime.
