Out & About
WA FARMERS REGIONAL ROADSHOW

August and September saw Phil tour the regions as part of the WA Farmers Regional Road Show.

Ranging from Albany, Merredin, Katanning, Dalwallinu, Kulin, Pingelly, Ravensthorpe and Esperance the visits were an opportunity to meet directly with many of our regional clients and friends and to hear firsthand views as to Agribusiness Election issues for the upcoming state election and to discuss the Industrial Manslaughter legislation passed through the Upper House on 21 October. Travelling and presenting alongside us were the Agribusiness team from Dry Kirkness, the Bushfire Volunteers and Bunnings.

The Industrial Manslaughter legislation was of key concern to employers who may be found criminally liable in circumstances of workplace death and Bailiwick Legal are working to highlight the seriousness of this Bill and the potential ramifications that it may have on the lives and businesses of our Agribusiness clients.

Phil has since presented a webinar covering key FAQs including:

  • What are industrial manslaughter charges?
  • When does jail time apply as a penalty in the new industrial manslaughter laws?
  • What is the impact of the new industrial manslaughter bill on agribusinesses and tourism in particular?
  • What happens on a prosecution?
  • What should employers be doing?
The webinar is definitely worth watching if you run a business with employees. Click the button below to watch the video via the Bailiwick Legal Facebook page.
BLUE TREE COLLECTION

When 3 committed minds lend their focus to a special goal…

The Blue Tree Project, Peter Ryan Art & Bailiwick Legal have been working together on a special project to spread the message about suicide prevention and raise funds for this vital cause. The ‘Blue Tree Collection’ launched on 24 October 2020 provided a unique opportunity for supporters and art lovers to show their true colours and purchase one of the Blue Tree Collection prints or limited edition hand signed pieces, while raising funds to support this amazing project. On top of enjoying a wonderful evening, Bailiwick Legal was delighted to commission a piece for the event's auction, and congratulate Wilson and Renata Casado who are the proud owners of this beautiful painting.

Raising Awareness of Mental Wellbeing

The Blue Tree Project started in Western Australia with the aim being to encourage people to start the difficult conversations and open up if they are suffering from depression and/or anxiety. Their mission is to help spark difficult conversations and encourage people to speak up when battling mental health concerns. By spreading the paint and spreading the message that "it’s OK to not be OK", they aim to help break down the stigma that’s still largely attached to mental health. As a NFP their Fundraising activities are focused on supporting Lifeline WA
